The Freeman Lab is happy to announce that we have received funding via two Research Corporation for Science Advancement (RCSA) grants to investigate the COVID-19 virus. The first of these grants, titled “Pan-Covid-19 MultiValent Binders (MVBs) to Block Virus Entry”, was submitted with Rommie Amaro of the University of California and Carlos Simmerling of Stony Brook University. The second, titled “Establishing Swift, Sensitive, and Selective (3S) Sensing Technologies – Going Beyond RT-PCR”, was submitted with Zachary Schultz of the University of Ohio. You can read more details about the grants at the RCSA website here.
These grants are the results of efforts by Scialog Fellows and Scialog Facilitators to pool their skills and knowledge, in order to respond to the global crisis resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. We at the Freeman Lab are excited to bring our skill set to this sorely needed topic, and hope to make a concrete contribution to the fight against this pandemic.
